School Visits

A working fifth-grade teacher, a published author, and an actual magician. I know what an assembly feels like from the back of the cafeteria, because that is usually where I am standing.

Programs

  • Reading is Magic — assembly

45–50 min · Whole school or grade bands

An author talk, a Q&A, and a real magic show, built around one idea: a story is the only magic trick you can do by yourself, anywhere, with nothing. Works in a cafeteria, a gym, or an MPR.

  • Classroom read-aloud

30–40 min · One class at a time

A chapter read aloud the way it's meant to be read, then questions. Smaller, closer, and better for the kids who won't raise a hand in front of four hundred people.

  • Writing workshop

45–60 min · One class or a grade level

Standards-aligned drafting, taught by someone who does it every day with fifth graders. Students leave with a piece of writing started and a strategy they can reuse.
